Allen Cooper, InterMedia Survey Institute
Allen Cooper has been providing research, evaluation
and consultancy services to international media and
other clients for over 5 years. Prior to this, he
worked for more than 20 years in audience research
at the BBC World Service, having responsibility for
the BBC's extensive program of international qualitative
and quantitative research. He is currently working
as Research Director with the Washington DC-based
research firm InterMedia. In addition to being co-author
of the CIBAR/EBU Harmonised Audience Measurement
for International Broadcasting (3rd edition, 2001),
he has written articles and papers on aspects of
his work for a number of publications and conference
proceedings.
Alain Modoux, Intermedia, Geneva, Switzerland
At the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) Mr. Modoux has served successively
as Director of the Office of Public Information,
Director of the Communication Division in charge
of all questions relating to the free flow of information,
communication research and communication development,
and Director of the Unit for Freedom of Expression
and Democracy, with the task of developing UNESCO's
worldwide role in promoting freedom of expression
as a basic human right, essential to democracy. He
also served as Assistant Director-General (ADG) in
charge of the "Programme for Freedom of Expression,
Democracy and Peace", and then Assistant Director-General
for Communication and Information.
Moncef M. Bouhafa, Director, Center for Development
Communication
CDC Founder Moncef M. Bouhafa has conducted media skills training for senior
United Nations officials at the United Nations Staff College in Turin, Italy
and has had more than twenty years experience in the field of communications
development. He was a spokesperson for UNICEF in West Africa, and directed
the external relations department in Abidjan. He has been interviewed on major
news outlets such as ABC's Good Morning America, the BBC World Service, and
Radio France International and has worked closely with the New York Times,
Le Monde, Reuters, Associated Press, and hundreds of local media outlets.
