International Executive Media and TV Workshops (IEMTW)

The IEMTW is an intensive hands on learning event that helps spokespersons and media practitioners learn to better engage the media around their particular issues to increase public support and visibility for the organization.

Expected Results

By participating in this intensive 3 and a ½ day course you will improve skills in the following three areas:

  • Communicating Strategically: Learn how to develop clear and concise messages as part of an overall communication strategy
  • Delivering an Effective Interview: Through 3 individual coaching sessions become confident in delivering the messages your organization wants to convey
  • Building Bridges with the Media: Learn how to work with the media by first understanding their perspective

Our methodologies combine individual coaching sessions with group learning so that what you learn is internalized and can be easily applied.

The number of participants is deliberately kept small, to enhance learning retention. Suitable applicants would include spokespersons of organizations, project staff as well as communication practitioners. This training supplements the limited in-house training usually provided by organizations to senior staff, and provides a cost effective alternative for organizations that may have only one or two people to train.

Strategic Communications for Good Governance Programming Workshop (SCG)

CDC created this course in response to the growing need to strategically program communication as a key aspect of any governance project, and to address the issues of media responsibility that arise from an increasing emphasis in development programming on a rights based approach.

Over a period of four days, this workshop highlights key issues related to governance and the media and analyzes a variety of themes related to the role of the media in establishing good governance practices.

The course also looks at the use of community media and behavior change programmes in relation to good governance practices.
